Week 6 (Part) 3 A possible oversimplified way of describing the abolitionist movement, is a group that attempted (and eventually did) end slavery in the United States. Now, some wished to go further than others, but in general the agreed upon goal was the end of slavery. The official end, (though not complete end) was the ratification of the 13th amendment. However, there was still not equality, particularly in the south. Inevitably, government in the south found a way around the amendment, in a collection of laws and rulings known as the Jim Crow laws, aptly named after a fictitious character from a popular play at the time, that portrayed a black man as somewhat childish. One of the more commonly known ways that someone stood-up to these laws was the Plessy Vs. Ferguson trial.( explain in own words 100 words)
